WHAT TO EXPECT THIS YEAR.... 

This year we will be holding two concerts!  This will also be our first year in our new and incredible venue - Bunjil Place!

We make every effort to ensure our concerts are as enjoyable as possible for all involved, with this in mind, we would like to advise that our afternoon show will be longer than previous years.

Please note:  All Kinder age children will all be in our shorter morning show.

Unlike many other activities, students have been working towards this day for much of the year and we thank you for your patience and excitement for what will be a super epic show!  We anticipate the afternoon show will run for around three hours which includes an interval for our audience members.  

While we do our best to keep the show flowing, we also thank you for your patience should there be an occasional stoppage. Pre-planning will ensure this is kept to a minimum, but as you can understand working with children, sometimes last minute toilet trips or quick costume changes can mean a small delay. 

We are SO EXCITED for our students to have the opportunity to perform in such a beautiful, grand theatre and can't wait to share all of their hard work with you!

LOCATION:  BUNJIL PLACE - 2 Patrick Northeast Dr, Narre Warren VIC 3805

 

Students are to please arrive 10 minutes before their allotted time to sign in.  Sign in will be with the Bunjil Place staff, Confident Kids and Inspire Academy staff will then take students backstage. 

 

Please ensure your child is NOT LATE, as they may miss their item and latecomers make it difficult to run the rehearsal.

Rehearsal is Compulosory for students to perform in the show.

Bunjil Place is an incredible theatre with dressing rooms on three levels.  Students who are not able to attend rehearsal will not be familiar with where to go and their positions on stage.  Rehearsals allow students to calm their nerves, rehearse their dance in the large space and ensure they know where to go and when.

If your child is unable to make rehearsal due to extenuating circumstance, please let us know ASAP.

PERFORMER DROP OFF - SIGN IN AND OUT

PLEASE DROP OFF PERFORMERS AT THE STAGE DOOR

This is located at the back of the building.  Please follow the signs.

Parents will be required to sign students in and out.  This will be with Bunjil Place staff and may take a little longer than previous years.  We thank you for your patience.  Our staff will then walk students to their dressing rooms.

WHAT TO WEAR TO REHEARSAL:

For rehearsal please wear your class attire and correct shoes (if in a dance class).

Costumes, hair and make up are NOT required for rehearsal.

 

WHAT TO BRING TO REHEARSAL:

Please bring a bag with ALL ITEMS NAMED.

  • Dance Shoes (if in a dance class)

  • Jumper

  • Water-bottle

FOOD AT REHEARSAL 

We ask all performers to please come well prepared with plenty of food and water. Please ensure all food is clearly named.  Children WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SHARE FOOD UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

We have multiple students with food allergies and as such we strictly prohibit any foods containing nuts/seeds, chocolate, eggs and no fizzy or sticky drinks. Any food found containing these ingredients will be taken by staff to ensure the safety of all performers. 

If you have concerns about your child eating during this time please feel free to call Jenny on 0422 221 461 no later than the week before concert. 

We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

 

IMPORTANT - If your child has an allergy or anaphylaxis we ask that an action plan, epipen and letter from your Doctor is supplied (the same information as is required by schools).  Please see us to discuss this. If there is an occurrence where any Confident Kids or Inspire Academy staff member deems it necessary, an ambulance will be called on behalf of the student and parent. This will be at the cost of the student’s parent.  Parents will also be contacted as soon as practically possible and brought backstage.  
 

ASTHMA PUFFERS, EPI PENS AND OTHER MEDICATION

If your child requires an asthma puffer or epi-pen, please provide this information in writing (including an action plan) prior to concert and let MICHELLE know on the day where your child's puffer or epi-pen is stored.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this please contact Michelle confident_kids.michelle@hotmail.com prior to concert day.

Not other medication will be allowed backstage.

We understand a Monday and Tuesday (after school has finished for the year) are not ideal dates for concert and rehearsal.  We would usually hold these events on a weekend but due to theatre availability and our original dates being cancelled due to Covid restrictions, we have had to do the best we can, with the focus of giving these kids an opportunity to GET ON STAGE in 2021!

CONCERT 1 AND 2 - INFORMATION

Please note: It is VERY IMPORTANT students arrive on time at the very latest.  Late students mean a late start, or worse yet, may not be able to perform if their group is already ready to go on stage.  We do not have the ability to run late children to their dressing rooms to get changed just before the show.

 

Please check which concert your child’s class is in carefully.  Extension team, Troupes and Senior/Intermediate Ballet will be in both concerts.

Females - tan leotard  (supplied prior to concert day)

Males - black singlet (supplied prior to concert day) and black underwear

This is strictly part of our child protection policy to ensure students backstage are always clothed while changing into their costumes.

 

WHAT TO BRING TO CONCERT:

Please bring a bag with ALL ITEMS labelled.

We believe this show will run for around an hour, allowing our kinder age dancers a relaxed concert experience.

PLEASE BE PREPARED - we plan for this show to run for around 3 HOURS.  This is our biggest concert yet and we are excited to share it with you.  Unlike many other sports and activities, this is our one big day for the year.  

We thank you so much in advance for your patience during this epic show!

For those with young children, there is a sound proof room at the back of the theatre that can be utilised as needed while still being able to view the show.

PHOTO DAYS

VENUE - Our Studio, 6/10-12 Morialta Road, Cranbourne West.


This year, like last year, we will be offering photo days via booking only.

These are a wonderful opportunity for students to have photos taken in their costumes to purchase as a keepsake!

Photos will again be taken by Heather Rose. Heather has worked with children for well over 20 years and has a working with children check. She has also won a large number of photography awards and we are excited to have her at our studio again.

An individual photo will be taken in each costume. Photos will then be available for purchase online in the weeks following.

HOW TO ARRIVE

Please ensure your child has the required items for concert day (See Below - tan leotard or black singlet, tights, correct shoes etc), hair and make up (if wearing make up) as described in the make up and hair section on this page.

Miss Jenny and Miss Michelle will be on site to assist students and parents will be asked to please wait outside to ensure we don’t ruin the surprise for the big day!

HAIR

ALL STUDENTS
Where possible students are to have their hair in a high slick bun.

STUDENTS WITH VERY SHORT HAIR

Please ensure it is neatly out of their face.

MAKE UP

 

Make up has always been, and remains optional at our school

As stage lights are very strong they tend to wash out Performer’s faces. We recommend that Performers wear basic make up, but it is not compulsory if you or your child does not feel comfortable in make up.

 

GIRLS - Basic stage make up consists of: 

        *  Foundation

        *  Blush

        *  Brown/Light Brown Eyeshadow

        *  Eyeliner

        *  Mascara

        *  Lipstick (Red)

 

BOYS - Often boys prefer not to wear stage make up until they are a little older, and it is again, not compulsory.  This is for individual families to decide.  Boys may wear the same as the girls if they choose, or basic stage make up for boys often consists of: 

        *  Foundation

        *  Blush 

TAN LEOTARDS AND BLACK SINGLETS - MUST BE WORN

 

Costumes will be supplied on the day by Confident Kids and Inspire Academy (hired to students).  

You will not need to bring these on the day.

FEMALE STUDENTS

All female students will be provided a tan leotard to keep! (This was included in your concert fee)

Student MUST ARRIVE in their tan leotard.  This will allow students to change with their other female classmates while always remaining clothed and is part of our child protection policy.

Regular class clothes can be worn over the leotard.

Please wear leotards UNDERNEATH tights.

For older students we also recommend a supportive convertible bra with invisible straps. 

 

MALE STUDENTS

All male students will be provided a black singlet to keep! (This was included in your concert fee)

Student MUST ARRIVE in their black singlet and black underwear underneath their regular clothes This will allow students to change with their other male classmates while always remaining clothed and is part of our child protection policy.  Regular class clothes can be worn over the singlet.

COSTUMES

Costumes will be supplied on the day by Confident Kids and Inspire Academy (hired to students).  

You will not need to bring these on the day.
